Defender Rust Protection
High-performance protection without the eyewatering price tag.
The Land Rover Defender is an icon, but its steel chassis and aluminium body panels face a constant battle against wet UK weather and heavily salted roads. Left unchecked, trapped road grime and moisture rot the chassis rails from the internal box sections outward.
At Classic British Land Rovers, we don’t believe in cheap, old-fashioned bitumen underseals that crack, peel, and trap water against bare metal. We also know that not every vehicle needs an expensive, multi-thousand-pound body-off restoration.
That is why we offer a highly effective, targeted “Clean, Convert, and Wax” protection package using award-winning chemistry from Bilt Hamber Laboratories to seal out rust and keep your vehicle on the road for years to come.
The Three Danger Zones We Target
Internal Box Sections
Mud and salt settle inside the chassis rails, outriggers, and the rear crossmember. We clear this out and coat it from the inside.
The Exterior Underbody
Exposed axles, suspension parts, and floors take a beating from road debris.
Door Frames & Pillars
Where aluminium panels meet steel frames, galvanic corrosion creates bubbling paint and structural rot.
Our Meticulous Workshop Process
Every vehicle receives the same honest care we give our own classics.
The Deep Chassis Flush
We pressure wash the underbody and use specialist internal flushing lances to clean hidden mud and road salt out from the deep recesses of the chassis rails.
Manual Preparation & Rust Conversion
We manually wire-brush away loose, flaking scale. We then apply Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to any remaining surface oxidation. This advanced treatment chemically alters the rust, turning it into a tough, stable, inert black barrier.
Internal Cavity Injection
Using professional 360-degree injection lances, we flood the chassis box sections, outriggers, door frames, and pillars with Bilt Hamber Dynax-S50. This deeply penetrating wax creeps into every weld seam to displace hidden moisture.
Tough Underbody Shielding
We coat the external chassis rails and running gear with Bilt Hamber Dynax-UB. This creates a resilient, self-healing wax barrier that resists mechanical abrasion and road salt, without obscuring the chassis numbers or metal integrity for future MOTs.
Honest Rates, No Surprises
Based on our standard £45.00/hr workshop rate plus high-performance Bilt Hamber materials.

Three Working Days, Done Properly
To do this job properly, we require your vehicle for a minimum of 3 consecutive working days.
Deep-chassis hot wash, mud scraping, and a dedicated 24-hour drying cycle in the workshop.
Mechanical wire-brushing, scale scraping, and application of the Hydrate 80 rust converter (which requires overnight curing).
Full internal cavity injection (Dynax-S50) followed by the exterior underbody wax shield application (Dynax-UB).
Service Disclaimer & Inspection Policy
Structural Integrity Only
This process is a preventative and curative maintenance treatment for surface oxidation and sound steel structural elements. It is not a cosmetic cover-up and will not fix structural rot.
Prior Inspection
Every Defender undergoes a strict physical inspection upon arrival at our workshop. If our deep clean reveals heavy, structural rot, paper-thin metal, or holes that require welding or extensive fabrication, we will pause work immediately. We will discuss these issues with you and provide a separate quote for the necessary repair work before any anti-corrosion waxes are applied.
Existing Heavy Coatings
Vehicles previously coated in heavy bitumen, rubberised underseals, or thick tar-based products may incur an additional labour fee if extensive scraping is required to clear a path to the underlying metal surface.
Protect Your Defender Before Winter Returns
We keep our Suffolk workshop small, honest, and dedicated to doing the job properly.
